I recently discovered a wonderful ceramics timeline on the Victoria & Albert Museum (London) website. It "draws together potting traditions from across the globe, showing how they interrelate, and how trade and cultural interchange have shaped their histories." Fascinating!
A consultant, expert in Time Management, wanted to surprise his audience... From under his table, he brought out a large glass container, placed it on the table, next to a tray with stones, and asked: "How many stones do you think will fit in the container?"
The ability of the Arts to cut across racial, cultural, social, educational and economic barriers makes them a universal language which everyone can understand. They are a medium to enhance cultural awareness and appreciation, and one which provides endless opportunities for every person (not just students) to be lifelong learners, both about themselves and the world around them.

As I often say, it expresses a hope that as adults, we can stay in touch with, or rediscover, that inner creativity. As I found out both personally and through my teaching, it is never too late to try!
